Buddy Poppies

In support of Memorial Day and Remembrance Day, members of Post 12163 are looking to distributing Buddy Poppies in partnership with the RSL. The VFW Buddy Poppy program provides compensation through donations to the Veterans who assemble the poppies, provides financial assistance in maintaining state and national Veterans' rehabilitation and service programs, and partially supports the VFW National Home For Children.

Veteran Outreach

Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.

As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

The memorial marker for William Henry Belpitt, the Medal of Honor Winner has finally been installed. Thanks to all who helped bring this about.

Note, the pancake breakfasts will now be held occasionally and just for post members and guests.

Justin Hughes, Vice President of the Eastern Regional Bassendean Sub-branch of the RSL, presented the below information the the January meeting. Additional Gulf War Illness information will be in the document section.

Eastern Regional Bassendean RSL opens each Friday 1630 for comradery, sausage sizzle and toast. Our RSL comprises membership of around 95% ex serving ADF and allied forces. 0900-1200 Mon-Friday for coffee and veteran advocacy. We also have a Padre.

  1. 29,30,31 August - Western Australian Military Muster - located an infantry veterans private property, bring your unit flag, hat, shirt - watch for details on our FB site
  2. every Sunday - Western Grunts Military Motorcycle Club (comprised of serving and ex-service members, supporters eg their fathers who were in Korea, Vietnam etc) rides each Sunday 0830 coffee, 0930 stands up to hotel or another RSL that serves lunch then back to RSL.
