Judge Adjutant Robert Collins, originally from Pennsylvania, enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1991 and was deployed to the Persian Gulf and Somalia in 1992 and 1994 (WestPac aboard the USS Ogden and the USS Peleliu) with MSSG-11, 11th MEU(SOC).
 
After completing his enlistment in 1995 and promotion to Sergeant, he moved to Perth, Western Australia with his wife and has worked in law enforcement for over 20 years, including in the Pilbara region. He is a member of US Marines of Western Australia as well as the Australian Returned Services League (RSL).
